Privacy Policy for MindState

MindState (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use MindState, a mobile application for Android and iOS (the “App”).

The short version: the App needs no account, shows no ads, and keeps your mixes and settings on your device. We use a small amount of anonymous analytics and crash reporting to keep the App working well, and nothing else.

Language. This Privacy Policy is drafted in English. Any translation is provided for convenience only. If there is any discrepancy or conflict between the English version and a translated version, the English version is the authoritative source and prevails.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

Your mixes, settings, preferences, imported audio files, mix artwork, and listening history are stored locally on your device. This data:

  • Is created by you and stays on your phone
  • Is not uploaded to our servers (we do not operate any servers for the App)
  • May be included in your device’s standard system backup, under your own device settings
  • Is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data

2. Analytics and Crash Reporting

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the App is used and to fix crashes. Through these services we receive:

  • App interaction events, such as playing a mix, using the editors, or visiting the paywall
  • For mixes bundled with the App, the identifier of the mix that was played; for mixes you create yourself, only coarse metadata (such as duration or category), never the name or content of your mix
  • Crash reports, including stack traces, device model, and operating system version
  • General device and app information, such as app version, device type, language, and country
  • Pseudonymous identifiers used by Firebase (including, on Android, the advertising ID) to distinguish devices; we use these for analytics only, never for advertising

This data does not include your name, email address, contacts, precise location, or the contents of your mixes and audio files. We use it solely to improve stability and usability of the App. Data is processed by Google on our behalf; see Google’s privacy policy and Firebase privacy documentation for details.

3. Purchases

Optional subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details. The App stores only your entitlement status (for example, “subscribed”) locally on your device so your purchases keep working offline.

4. Permissions

The App requests permissions only when a feature needs them:

  • Camera - used only while you scan a MindState QR code to import a mix. Camera images are processed on your device and are never stored or transmitted.
  • Photos / media - used only when you choose an image from your library as artwork for a mix, or pick an audio file for a mix. The selected files stay on your device.

You can use the core of the App without granting any of these permissions.

5. Sharing Mixes

When you share a mix as a QR code or link, the shared data contains only the mix definition (tracks, frequencies, timing). It contains no personal information. Sharing is always initiated by you, through the share options you choose.

6. What We Do NOT Do

  • No account creation or login
  • No advertising networks and no ads
  • No sale or rental of data to third parties
  • No access to your contacts or location
  • No microphone recording

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Analytics data we receive is pseudonymous and cannot reasonably be used by us to identify any user, child or adult.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the European Union), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because the App stores your content on your device and our analytics data is pseudonymous, the most effective controls are in your hands: you can clear the App’s data or uninstall it at any time, and reset your device’s advertising ID in your system settings. 9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when the App gains new features. If we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
